One of the longest walking mine tours in the state, visitors walk over 1,000 feet into the mountain and see gold veins, mininng machinery and tools. Walk into a stope and experience what it was like to work a mine by candlelight. Learn about drilling, blasting and mucking and the importance of mining back in the wild west.
Still an active mine, visitors can see a modern prospecting operation that includes rock crushers, sluice boxes and shaker tables. Instead of gold panning, visitors "mine" an ore specimen from 1,000 feet in the stope. Then we take it out of the mine and break it open to see the gold and silver.
Open year-round and fun for the whole family! The mine is a constant 50 degrees so it's warm in the winter and a great place to cool off in summer. Conveniently located only 25 minutes from Frisco, 35 minutes to Denver and one mile off Interstate 70.
